Job Responsibilities
To develop and provide appropriate treatment strategies within a therapeutic milieu.
Job Duties
- Obtain Therapist certification of License as required by Department of Mental Health and maintain Certification/License in good standing.
- Provide therapy in school and home settings (individual, group, school based, family and day treatment if applicable).
- Provide referral to services that may benefit the consumer, consumer's family and/or school personnel.
- Establish weekly meetings with case manager(s).
- Maintain current documentation as required by state and local standards.
- Serve as liaison between student, home, school, and community resources such as family service agencies, child guidance clinics, courts, protective services, doctors, local MAP teams and clergy members.
- Adhere to established policies and procedures as mandated by specific schools.
- Display punctuality while performing all job duties.
- Effectively manage time so that 85% of available time is spent in direct service.
- Maintain an active case load of 40 students.
- Available during school holidays and summer break in the event a child on caseload is in crisis.
- Treat individuals receiving services, family members, staff, volunteers, visitors, government agencies, and the general public with respect, dignity, and courtesy at all times.
- Conduct yourself in a manner which leaves a favorable impression with the public.
- Adhere to all Department of Mental Health Standards, Division of Medicaid Standards, and maintain respect for all other Life Help policies, procedures, and management decisions.
- Respect and uphold the confidentiality of individuals receiving services, their family members, colleagues, and any sensitive situations arising within the agency.
- Refrain from malicious gossip at all times.
- Participate in all training required for your specific position and by the agency at large.
- Perform other specific duties as assigned by your supervisor/manager/coordinator.
- Must possess leadership ability, organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and must possess the willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel.
Qualifications
- Master's Degree in counseling, psychology, social work or DMH approved related field.
- Eligible to meet DMH Certification/Licensure requirements for Therapist.
- Valid Mississippi Driver's License.
