About the role

We are revolutionizing the way students learn and are seeking passionate teachers and tutors with special education experience to provide 1:1 in-home tutoring in Los Angeles, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes.
  • Help students with daily activities.
  • Offer moral support.
  • Deliver tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
  • Facilitate activities that build confidence, empathy, emotional regulation, and positive peer interactions.
  • Create engaging, hands-on art projects that align with SEL objectives.
  • Design activities that encourage emotional expression, self-awareness, and confidence.
  • Integrate SEL concepts such as emotional regulation, empathy, perspective-taking, and friendship skills into art activities.
  • Develop healthy coping strategies for managing frustration and navigating social situations.
  • Encourage problem-solving, flexibility, and resilience through creative learning experiences.
  • Monitor progress toward social-emotional goals and adapt activities to meet the student's evolving needs.
  • Communicate regularly with the family regarding progress, successes, and recommended strategies to reinforce skills outside of sessions.

Requirements

  • Experience teaching visual arts to elementary-aged students.
  • Strong background in Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and social skills development.
  • Experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or other neurodiverse learners.
  • Skilled at using art as a tool to promote emotional expression, self-awareness, and self-regulation.
  • Patient, creative, and encouraging with a relationship-centered approach.
  • Able to facilitate activities that build confidence, empathy, emotional regulation, and positive peer interactions.
  • Comfortable designing engaging, hands-on art projects that align with SEL objectives.
  • Strong communication and rapport-building skills with students and families.
  • Flexible and able to adapt instruction based on the student's emotional and developmental needs.
  • Experience incorporating creative arts into therapeutic or educational settings is highly preferred.

  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect privacy.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

  • Artistic ability and proficiency in various art mediums.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with families and other professionals.
  • Knowledge of and experience with SEL concepts and techniques.
  • Ability to adapt instruction to meet individual student needs.

Pay

Pay rate ranges from $25-$35 per hour.
