Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Specialist

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with school leadership to assess, develop, and implement school wide initiatives to address social emotional wellness.
• Build and participate in the implementation of a continuum of social emotional services within the school.
• Work with students individually or in integrated settings such as the regular classroom, related service session, team meetings, and in cooperation with staff.
• Use research-based and technically sound practices to drive decision-making; and collaborate with school personnel and parents to develop and modify student intervention strategies.
• Review school-wide SEL survey data and assessment data to assist in designing school-wide support of SEL competencies.
• Provide professional learning or content for adult learners.
• Demonstrate and maintain productive and positive interpersonal skills.
• Promote professional conversation and reflective thinking to impact staff effectiveness.
• Attending ongoing professional development to increase knowledge on how to support systems of resilience in staff and the school community.
• Be an active and essential member of the school’s Wellness Team.
• Respect for diversity in the home, school, local and global communities.

Qualifications & Education

• The incumbent must hold a valid NY State School Counseling, School Psychologist or Social Work certification.
• Successful experience in special education preferred.
