Art Gallery Internship
The Untitled Space is an art gallery located in Tribeca, New York in a landmark building on Lispenard Street. Founded in 2015, the gallery features exhibits of emerging and established contemporary artists exploring conceptual framework and boundary-pushing ideology through mediums of painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, video, and performance art. The gallery is committed to exploring new ideas vis-à-vis traditional and new mediums and highlights a program of women in art.
About the role
We are seeking a full-time or part-time art gallery intern. Internship applicants must be available for a minimum of 3–6 months and live in New York City or within commuting distance. Part-time applicants must be available a minimum of 3 days per week (hours 12–6pm).
Responsibilities
- Assist with gallery operations
- Assist with press releases and PR coverage for exhibitions
- Assist with marketing materials, books, and catalogs for artists
- Assist with research for upcoming exhibitions
- Assist with social media marketing and communications
- Assist with art handling and shipping
- Assist with gallery openings and events
Requirements
- Educational focus in Art History, Art Business, Art Curating, Museum Studies, or related field of study
- Previous gallery, museum, auction house, or similar internship experience is preferred, although not required
- Strong interest in contemporary art and artists
- Thorough knowledge of contemporary art in general
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Positive attitude and strong social skills
- Consistent attention to detail while maintaining perspective
- Working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word and Excel), WordPress, and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Bridge, InDesign)
- Strong knowledge of social media platforms: Instagram, Facebook, among others
- Fluent in English; other languages such as French or Italian are a plus
