Art Collection & Gallery Assistant - Student Worker

About the role

The Art Collection & Gallery Assistant’s primary role is to assist with the campus art collection archive project, including photographing artwork, researching artists, documenting artwork locations on campus, and assisting with artwork cleaning and framing. This position also supports the Art Gallery by preparing for and installing/deinstalling shows, occasionally preparing promotional materials, such as posters or postcards, assisting with receptions and refreshments, and interfacing directly with exhibiting artists and students.

Responsibilities

• Photograph artwork for the campus art collection archive
• Research artists and document artwork locations on campus
• Assist with artwork cleaning and framing
• Prepare for, install, and deinstall gallery shows
• Create promotional materials (e.g., posters, postcards)
• Assist with gallery receptions and refreshments
• Interface with exhibiting artists and students

Requirements

• Interest in art and willingness to learn about artists, exhibitions, and gallery activities
• Ability to work independently with a respectful and friendly attitude
• Ability to climb ladders, lift up to 30 pounds, and stand for extended periods

Skills in technology and creativity may be helpful for problem-solving and producing promotional materials.

Schedule

16 hours per week, with flexible days.

Pay

$16.50 per hour.
