Student Employment - Program Manager, Art Collection & Gallery Assistant(part-time)

About the role

Responsibilities

• Assist Gallery & Art Collection Manager in overseeing the college's permanent art collection consisting of 800+ artworks across several campuses.
• Inventory artworks: measure, identify media, research missing info, enter information into a database, basic photography, basic photo editing, file management.
• Support the implementation of 13 gallery exhibitions annually at South City campus: update gallery store website for new exhibits, promote exhibitions on social media and other websites, generate wall labels, help set up for and work opening receptions.
• Assist with installation of art exhibitions with track and cable hanging system and installation of collection art with security hardware and info placards.
• Adhere to best practices around safe art handling.
• Work closely with the Gallery & Art Collection Manager; coordinate effectively across Redwood and South City campuses.
• Participate in professional development activities.

Requirements

• Current SLCC student.
• Qualify for Federal Work Study.
• U.S. work authorization.
• Minimum GPA of 2.0.
• Work 15-20 hours per week.
• General familiarity with fine art.
• Ability to enter information into a database with precision.
• Familiarity with basic hand tools (e.g., electric drill, level, anchors).
• Basic photography and photo editing skills.
• Familiarity with Instagram and other social media platforms.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Detail-oriented and professional demeanor.
• Open-minded and ready to learn.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bilingual.
• Graphic design skills.
