About the Role

This position requires an enhanced knowledge in Computed Tomography (CT) and the specific expertise and skills necessary for maintaining a safe CT environment daily. The role involves providing imaging services and transportation to patients of all ages, including neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.

Responsibilities

  • Provide patients and families with thorough explanations and adequate communication.
  • Uphold all safety standards related to the assigned position.
  • Follow established protocols, practices, and guidelines for the assigned area of expertise to provide quality service.
  • Observe JCAHO standards.
  • Prioritize customer and patient satisfaction using AIDET principles.
  • Collaborate with other departments, modalities, and personnel to provide high-quality care.
  • Use I Care principles to ensure proper patient identification, correct exam, and improved patient communication.
  • Practice good stewardship with supplies, equipment, and department resources.
  • Understand clinical history, supply and exam charges, and follow billing practices.
  • Correlate clinical history with the exams being performed.
  • Practice radiation safety and follow dose reduction practices.
  • Administer contrast/medications according to policy and procedure.
  • Perform duties necessary to maintain accreditation.
  • Participate in CT quality control and complete appropriate documentation for all CT equipment.
  • Maintain, clean, and care for imaging, transport, and office supplies, equipment, and software.
  • Instruct and supervise student technologists and new employees as assigned.
  • Be available for rotation through any work area/shift and campus where competency has been assessed.
  • Facilitate and coordinate services for the assigned area as a charge or lead technologist, serving as a contact person for radiologists, physician offices, and other departments.
  • Monitor functions of the area of expertise and/or imaging department needs.
  • For Per Diem staff: work one holiday in a calendar year and at least once during a 90-day period; notify the person in charge of any unavailability.
  • Function proficiently in the specified area with little or no supervision.

CT 3D Technologist Responsibilities (if applicable)

  • Efficiently use the tools available on the workstation and understand the process for developing images for diagnostic purposes.
  • Possess advanced knowledge of anatomy and physiology as it relates to 3D imagery.
  • Understand the process for sending images to Synapse.
  • Be proficient in processing 3D exams with documented formal education or on-the-job training.
  • Be scheduled to process 3D exams on a regular rotating basis.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of basic anatomy, physiology, and physics as it pertains to CT patient care.
  • Graduate of a JRCERT-approved school of radiologic technology.
  • Current registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in radiography or registry eligible (registration required within one year of graduation).
  • ARRT CT registry eligible or CT registration preferred.
  • Formal education or previous on-the-job training in CT recommended.
  • Must be able to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English.
