About the role

This position requires an enhanced knowledge in the area of CT, along with specific expertise and skills necessary for maintaining a safe CT environment daily. The role involves providing imaging services and transportation to patients of all ages, including neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric. Duties also include explaining and communicating thoroughly with patients and families.

Responsibilities

  • Uphold all safety standards related to assigned position.
  • Follow established protocols, practices, and guidelines for assigned area of expertise to provide quality service.
  • Observe Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) standards.
  • Prioritize customer and patient satisfaction and utilize AIDET principles.
  • Work with other departments, modalities, and personnel to provide above-average care to patients and families.
  • Use I Care principles to ensure proper patient identification, correct exam, and improve patient communication and engagement.
  • Practice good stewardship with supplies, equipment, and department resources to assist in maintaining the financial viability of the DCH Health System.
  • Understand clinical history, supply, and exam charges. Follow billing practices.
  • Correlate clinical history with the exam(s) being performed.
  • Practice radiation safety and follow dose reduction practices.
  • Administer contrast/medications to all assigned patients according to policy and procedure.
  • Perform duties necessary to maintain accreditation.
  • Participate in CT quality control and complete appropriate documentation for all CT equipment.
  • Understand, utilize, and take responsibility for the care, cleaning, and maintenance of all imaging, transport, and office supplies, equipment, and software as required by assigned area.
  • Instruct and supervise student technologists and new employees as assigned.
  • Staff may be rotated at the discretion of his/her supervisor through any work area/shift and campus where competency has been assessed.
  • Per Diem staff must work one holiday in a calendar year and at least once during a 90-day period. Notify the person in charge of any unavailability. After four requests, a per diem employee declining work will have their position reviewed and removed from payroll.
  • Per Diem staff must submit a two-week notice of resignation.
  • Functions proficiently in specified area with little or no supervision.
  • For CT 3D Technologists, training is required. Must be able to efficiently use workstation tools and understand image development processes. Advanced knowledge of anatomy and physiology as it relates to 3D imagery is necessary. Must understand image sending to Synapse and be proficient in processing 3D exams.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a JRCERT approved school of radiologic technology.
  • Current registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in radiography or be registry eligible.
  • Computed Tomography (CT) - ARRT CT registry eligible or CT registration preferred. Formal education or previous on-the-job training recommended.
