About the Role

Armed Security Officers are responsible for protecting the site’s building, grounds, assets, employees, and visitors against criminal activity. Officers at this location will work on a team to control access at entry/exit points of a local headquarters and serve as a point of contact for all visitors and patrons.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service.
  • Guard posts at entry/exit points of the local base.
  • Conduct foot and vehicle patrols of interior and exterior grounds to ensure a safe and secure environment.
  • Ensure unauthorized persons do not enter restricted areas.
  • Check employee, vendor, and visitor identifications.
  • Monitor for suspicious persons, packages, and activities.
  • Follow site-specific post guidelines.
  • Document daily activities and report all incidents.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old (21+ for armed security work) with a high school diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED).
  • Must hold a valid Michigan Concealed Pistol License (CPL) or LEOSA card for armed positions.
  • Must not have been convicted of any felonies or disqualifying misdemeanors (e.g., dishonesty, fraud, assault, weapons, controlled substances, or multiple alcohol-related offenses).
  • Must pass a drug screening at hire and randomly thereafter (including for marijuana).
  • Must adhere to the company’s Uniform and Appearance policy, presenting a professional image.
  • Must possess excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including de-escalation abilities.
  • Must fluently read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • If driving for work, must have a valid Michigan driver’s license with a clean record (fewer than 3 moving violations, 2 at-fault accidents, and no major violations in the last 3 years).
  • Must be willing to obtain CPR/First Aid/AED certification and capable of administering emergency care.
  • Must pass a Physical Agility Test (PAT) within 90 days of hire and annually thereafter (includes sprinting, sit-ups, push-ups, and a 1.5-mile run).
  • Must be physically and mentally sound, able to remain alert during shifts, and complete a psychological evaluation for armed roles.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for 8–12 hours, navigate stairs, and work indoors/outdoors in all seasons.
  • Must be able to use hands/fingers to manipulate equipment, hear conversations in noisy environments, and lift up to 70 lbs.
  • Must work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Air National Guard Base – $21.93/hour
    Part-time (2+ days/week), 3rd shift (1840–0710), various days.
  • Fort Custer Training Center – $19.89/hour
    Full-time (4+ days/week), 3rd shift (0000–0800), various days.
