About the role

The Generation Armed Security Officer position ensures the security of APC Corporate Headquarters, Generation sites, associated facilities, critical systems, equipment, operations, and persons. Key responsibilities include operating multiple electronic security systems, enforcing company policies and criminal laws, controlling access, responding to alarms, coordinating emergency situations, directing traffic, conducting preliminary investigations, assessing security measures, and making recommendations for enhancements.

Responsibilities

  • Operate multiple electronic security systems
  • Enforce company policies and criminal laws
  • Control access to company property
  • Respond to requests for security services and alarms
  • Coordinate the activities of public safety, medical, and other personnel during emergency situations
  • Direct and control vehicle and pedestrian traffic
  • Conduct preliminary investigation of security violations and prepare detailed reports
  • Assess current physical security, security systems, policies, post orders, and make recommendations for enhancements

Requirements

  • Bachelor's/Associates degree preferred or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Minimum 3 years of law enforcement, military, private or industrial security preferred
  • Must pass psychological test, drug test, initial Firearms Evaluation, and Internal Threat Program
  • Must qualify for firearm use and re-qualify annually with the semi-auto pistol
  • Must be at least 21 years of age

Qualifications

  • Available to work shift work, holidays, overtime, during inclement weather, call out, and able to work at designated Company location(s)
  • Military or law enforcement experience preferred
  • Must qualify for and obtain a valid state firearm permit and driver’s license

Skills

  • Knowledge of NERC CIP Cyber Security Standards
  • Ability to maintain computer-based security records
  • Proficiency in video surveillance, access control, and intrusion alarm systems
  • Ability to maintain Plant Emergency Response Team First Responder training certification and team membership as needed
