Armed Security Officer - Birmingham, AL
About the Role
This position is responsible for protecting personnel, assets, and interests throughout the Company’s footprint. Responsibilities include armed physical security tactics, screenings, highly technical security event monitoring, and security event response. This position is located in Birmingham, AL. No relocation assistance is offered for this role.
Responsibilities
- Knowledge of Software House CCURE (preferred).
- Knowledge of Avigilon Video Management System (VMS) Software (preferred).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Superior computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Microsoft Office, multiple functional computer formats).
- Ability to work and make decisions with minimal direct supervision within prescribed policies and procedures.
- Respond to complex technical inquiries regarding access application systems.
- Technical proficiency with access application systems at an operator level.
- Coordinate and liaison with Operating Company and Corporate Security groups.
- Willingness to travel for training, storm duty, or security-related circumstances.
- Evaluate and determine appropriate action in response to Physical Security Perimeter (PSP) intrusion events.
- Use sound logic and reasoning to identify alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
- Deal effectively with individuals under highly stressful situations and perform various tasks simultaneously as part of a team.
- Actively listen and build effective working relationships.
- Multi-task and perform computer data entry while handling phone calls.
- Stay current with relevant technology.

- Wear and maintain personal protection equipment.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s or associate degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Training certification reflecting knowledge of industry-standard business practices.
- Availability to work shift work, holidays, overtime, during inclement weather, call-outs, and at the designated Company location.
- Law enforcement, military, armed private, or armed industrial security experience (preferred).
- Must pass psychological test, drug test, firearms evaluation, and Insider Threat Program (for designated security positions).
- Must qualify for firearm use and successfully re-qualify annually with semi-auto pistol and/or shotgun/rifle.
- Must qualify for and obtain a valid state firearm permit and driver’s license.
- Successful annual qualification with all company-issued firearms.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
