About the role

This position is responsible for protecting personnel, assets, and interests throughout the Company’s footprint. Responsibilities include armed physical security tactics, screenings, highly technical security event monitoring, and security event response. The role is located in Birmingham, AL. No relocation assistance is offered.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and respond to security events using technical systems such as Software House CCURE (preferred) and Avigilon Video Management System (VMS) Software (preferred).
  • Operate access application systems at an operator-level proficiency and respond to complex technical inquiries regarding these systems.
  • Coordinate and liaison with Operating Company and Corporate Security groups.
  • Evaluate and determine appropriate actions in response to Physical Security Perimeter (PSP) intrusion events.
  • Direct and control vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
  • Wear and maintain personal protection equipment.
  • Perform physical activities, including running, walking, and lifting.
  • Travel for training, storm duty, or other security-related circumstances.
  • Use sound logic and reasoning to identify alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Handle highly stressful situations, multi-task, and perform computer data entry while managing phone calls.
  • Actively listen and communicate effectively to build working relationships.
  • Stay current with relevant technology and manage stress through continuous learning.
  • Demonstrate strong ethics and handle sensitive or confidential information.
  • Learn and enforce policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or associate degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Training certification reflecting knowledge of industry-standard business practices.
  • Availability to work shift work, holidays, overtime, during inclement weather, and on-call as needed.
  • Law enforcement, military, armed private, or armed industrial security experience preferred.
  • Must pass psychological test, drug test, firearms evaluation, and Insider Threat Program (for designated security positions).
  • Must qualify for and maintain firearm use, including annual re-qualification with semi-auto pistol and/or shotgun/rifle.
  • Must qualify for and obtain a valid state firearm permit and driver’s license.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

  • Superior computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Microsoft Office, and in-house computer formats.
  • Ability to work and make decisions with minimal direct supervision within prescribed policies and procedures.
  • Technical proficiency with access application systems.

  • Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively under pressure.
