Armed Security Officer

About the role
Armed Security Officers are responsible for protecting the site’s building, grounds, assets, employees, tenants, and visitors against criminal activity, accidents, and fires. In this region, you will protect one of the state’s most critical infrastructures: our military bases. You will work on a team to control access to the facility at all entry/exit points and perform vehicle patrols around the grounds.
Responsibilities
- Customer Relations – Highly reliant on interactions with clients, resident families, and residents.
- Access Control – Ensure only authorized individuals are allowed access to the site.
- Camera Monitoring – Monitor CCTV for safety and security concerns.
- Foot Patrol – Patrol the interior and exterior of various buildings on site, watching for security, safety, or maintenance issues.
- Mobile Patrol – Patrol parking lots, roads, building exteriors, and remote locations in a security vehicle.
- Monitor Fire Alarms – Ensure fire alarms are working accurately.
- Provide excellent customer service when dealing with visitors, staff, executives, co-workers, etc.
- Observe and report activities and incidents at assigned client locations.
- Guard posts – including building lobbies, gates, reception areas, control centers, etc.
- Conduct periodic foot patrols of assigned locations.
- Ensure unauthorized persons do not enter restricted areas.
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for all employees and visitors, enforcing site policies and procedures.
- Check for employee and vendor identifications.
- Look for suspicious persons, packages, and activities.
- Respond to emergency situations.
- Maintain regular communication with clients, follow through with client requests, and keep operations managers updated.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Must have a current, valid Concealed Pistol License (CPL) or be LEOSA certified.
- Must pass a drug screening at the time of hire and randomly thereafter (including for marijuana). Federal contracts require compliance with federal laws regarding marijuana use.
- Must not have been convicted of any felonies or misdemeanors related to dishonesty, fraud, impersonation of law enforcement, assault, weapons, unauthorized sale of information or evidence, controlled substances (including marijuana), or two or more alcohol-related offenses.
- Must present a friendly, positive, professional image to clients, employees, supervisors, managers, and the public.
- Must be able to sit, stand, and walk, including up and down stairs, for 8-12 hours at a time.
- Must have clear vision at least 20 feet away (assisted with glasses or contact lenses if necessary).
- Must be able to hear conversations in loud environments.
Skills
- Current, valid Concealed Pistol License (CPL).
- Military veterans and individuals with firefighting, department of corrections, or law enforcement experience are encouraged to apply.
Schedule
- Full-Time: Tuesday–Friday, 0700–1700
- Part-Time: Tuesday/Thursday, 0600–1800
Pay
$25.00/hour
