About the role

Armed Security Officers are responsible for protecting the site’s building, grounds, assets, employees, and visitors against criminal activity. Officers at this location will work on a team to control access at the entry/exit points of a local military headquarters and serve as a point of contact for all visitors and patrons. Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service.
• Guard posts at the entry/exit points of the local military base.
• Conduct foot and vehicle patrols of the interior and exterior of the grounds to ensure a safe and secure environment.
• Ensure unauthorized persons do not enter restricted areas.
• Check for employee, vendor, and visitor identifications.
• Monitor for suspicious persons, packages, and activities.
• Follow site-specific post guidelines.
• Document daily activities and report all incidents.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
• Must have a current, valid State of Michigan Concealed Pistol License (CPL).
• Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Must not have any felony convictions and must pass a criminal background check in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Must pass a drug test at the time of hire and annually thereafter.
• Must be a citizen of the United States of America.
• Must adhere to our Appearance and Grooming policy (impeccable grooming).
• Must present a friendly, positive, professional image.
• Must possess excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to solve problems and de-escalate situations in a non-confrontational manner.
• Must be able to read and write in English and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating procedures, maintenance instructions, and reports.
• Must possess a valid State of Michigan driver’s license with a clean driving record (less than 3 moving violations, less than 2 at-fault accidents, and no major violations in the last 3 years).
• Must be willing to become CPR/First Aid/AED certified.
• Prior experience in law enforcement, military, or armed security is preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Must be physically and mentally sound.
• Must be able to sit, stand, or walk for the duration of the shift, including walking long distances and possibly up and down stairs.
• Must be readily able to respond to emergency situations.
• Must be able to work indoors or outdoors during all seasons.
• Must be able to hear conversations (in person or via 2-way radio) in noisy environments.
• Must be able to occasionally lift up to 70 pounds.
• Must pass a Physical Agility Test (PAT) within 90 days of hire and annually thereafter. The PAT includes timed activities such as sprinting, sit-ups, push-ups, and a mile-and-a-half run.
• Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.

Schedule

• ACA Full Time (30+ hours per week).
• Various days, 2nd Shift (1600–0000).
• Various days, 3rd Shift (0000–1600).

Pay

Rate of pay: $19.89 per hour.
