Armed Security Officer

About the role

This position is suited for a flexible person with armed security, military, or law enforcement experience who is willing to work at various job sites in the Greater Lansing Area to secure and protect visitors, grounds, and staff in an armed capacity.

Responsibilities

• Customer Service: Be a positive reflection of the company by assisting client staff, visitors, and coworkers while maintaining a professional demeanor.
• Observe and Report: Stay alert for suspicious activities and incidents.
• Security Presence: Maintain a professional appearance while standing guard in lobbies, reception areas, control centers, and other assigned locations.
• Security Patrols: Conduct foot and/or vehicle patrols of assigned areas, performing security duties as required.
• Access Control: Ensure unauthorized persons do not enter restricted areas, verify employee and vendor IDs, and follow proper access procedures.
• Safety Patrol: Enforce policies and procedures to ensure a safe environment for employees and visitors; report safety concerns.
• Emergency Response: Assist in emergencies, including administering CPR/First Aid/AED and communicating with emergency personnel using proper protocols.
• Security Liaison: Maintain professional communication with client staff, follow through on requests, and keep supervisors updated on all client communications.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
• Must hold a valid, unexpired Michigan Concealed Pistol License (CPL).
• Must have prior armed experience in security, law enforcement, or military roles.
• Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Must pass a criminal background check with no felony convictions or disqualifying misdemeanors (e.g., criminal sexual conduct, theft, assault, illegal substances, multiple alcohol-related offenses, or crimes of moral turpitude).
• Must pass a psychological evaluation.
• Must pass a drug test at hire and annually thereafter.
• Must present a professional image and adhere to the company’s Appearance and Grooming policy.
• Must possess excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Must be able to read, write, and interpret documents in English (e.g., safety rules, procedures, reports).
• Intermediate computer skills required (e.g., Microsoft Office).

Schedule

• Part-Time (16–36 hours per week, based on availability).
• Weekend availability required.
• Shifts available: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd (Monday–Sunday, various days).

Pay

$19.89 – $20.09/hour (rates vary by work site).
