Job Skills / Requirements

Compensation and Schedule

Compensation Rate of Pay: $25.00/hour.

Schedule: Full-Time Tuesday-Friday, 0700-1700
Part-Time Tuesday/Thursday 0600-1800

Scope

SCOPE: Armed Security Officers are responsible for protecting the site’s building, grounds, assets, employees, tenants and visitors against criminal activity, accidents, and fires. They will protect one of the State's most critical infrastructures: our military bases!

Primary Responsibilities

• Conduct foot and vehicle patrols dependent on the site location.
• Ensure only authorized individuals are allowed access to the site.
• Monitor CCTV for safety and security concerns.
• Patrol the interior and exterior of the various buildings on site, keeping an eye out for security, safety, or maintenance issues.
• Patrol parking lots, roads, building exteriors and remote locations in a security vehicle.
• Monitor fire alarms to ensure they are working accurately.
• Provide excellent customer service when dealing with Visitors, Staff, Executives, Co-Workers, etc.
• Observe and report activities and incidents at assigned client locations.
• Guard posts – this may include building lobbies, gates, reception areas, control centers, etc.
• Conduct periodic foot patrols of the assigned locations.
• Ensure unauthorized persons do not enter restricted areas.
• Ensure a safe and secure environment for all employees and visitors, and enforce policies and procedures for the site location.
• Check for employee and vendor identifications.
• Look for suspicious persons, packages and activities.
• Respond to emergency situations.
• Maintain regular communication with clients, follow through with client requests, and keep operations managers updated on client communications.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years old or older and have at least a high school diploma or equivalent education certification, such as a GED, per MCL 338.106717(2).
• Must have a current, valid Concealed Pistol License or be LEOSA certified.
• Must be able to pass a drug screening at the time of hire and randomly thereafter (including for marijuana).
• Since our company contracts with the federal government, we must comply to federal laws regarding the use of marijuana, regardless of whether it is used recreationally or medicinally.
• Must not have been convicted of any felonies, per MCL 338.106010(1)(c).
• Must present a friendly, positive, professional image to clients, employees, supervisors, managers, and the general public.
• Must not have been convicted of any misdemeanors related to dishonesty, fraud, impersonation of law enforcement, assault, weapons, unauthorized sale of information or evidence, controlled substances (including for marijuana), or two or more alcohol related offenses, per MCL 338.106010(1)(c).
• Must be able to sit, stand, and walk, including up and down stairs, for 8-12 hours at a time.
• Must be able to see clearly at least 20 feet away (assisted with glasses or contact lenses if necessary).
• Must be able to hear conversations in loud environments either in-person.
