Responsibilities
- Protect the principal against possible threats
- Federal building access control, employee and visitor identification checks
- Security equipment monitoring, roving patrols of the interior and exterior of federal property
- Monitoring surveillance cameras for any disruptions or unlawful activities
- Providing detailed reports on daily activities and/or incidents that may have occurred
- Knowledgeable and able to effectively use magnetometer and X-ray machines
- Using provided communication devices such as two-way radios in a clear and concise manner
- Leverages excellent listening and service skills in emergency response and evaluation procedures
- Performing CPR or first aid when needed
- Ensure credentials are maintained per contract requirements
- Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor and/or Project Manager
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must be able to obtain suitability and/or clearance
- Be a United States citizen; or a Lawful Permanent Resident who is currently a member of, or who possesses a verifiable honorable discharge from, any component of the United States Armed Forces (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard)
- Been issued a Social Security Card by the Social Security Administration, which bears the individual's name and social security number
- A minimum of two (2) years of security (armed) experience or one (1) year of law enforcement experience in a full-duty status with a full-service police department in a municipality, state, or federal law enforcement department within the US
- A minimum of two (2) years as a member of any US Armed Forces with an honorable discharge
- Must be able to fluently speak, read, comprehend English, and be able to compose written reports in English
- Must be able to qualify with a revolver or semi-automatic
- Must possess strong relevant knowledge of the security industry
- Be able to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must have a customer service-driven mindset
- Ability to communicate effectively and present information to all levels of internal and external customers
Physical Demands
- PSO’s shall be physically able to perform tasks in performance of assigned duties
- Frequent and prolonged walking, standing, sitting, and stooping up to 12 hours per day, either indoors or outdoors
- Frequent contact with general public, law enforcement, and dispatch center, requiring an ability to speak clearly and distinctly and remain calm in stressful situations
- Ability to remain on post up to four (4) consecutive hours without sitting, eating or receiving a break
- Ability to remain alert for up to 12 hours, with ability to mentally and physically react quickly to a variety of unexpected and dangerous situations
- Ability to subdue violent or potentially violent or disturbed individuals, or intervene in a crisis
- Occasional running, sprinting, lifting heavy weights, moving heavy objects, climbing stairs
Education Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED
- CPR/American Red Cross Certification
Certification Requirements
- CPR/First Aid
- All Required PSO Training and Certs
- 16 Hour X-Ray and Magnetometer Basic Training
- Exhibits 72/64 hours Firearms Qualification
- Handcuffing Tactics and Instruction
