About the role
Abbott is seeking an Area Vice President to lead Sales for the South Gulf Area. This role focuses on cardiac rhythm technologies and aims to enhance the success of marketing and sales efforts.
Responsibilities
- Identifies, develops, and drives key programs for Cardiac products that enhance marketing and sales success.
- Develops and drives initiatives to accelerate the growth of products in collaboration with upper-level Sales management, Marketing, Product Divisions, and key physician Opinion Leaders.
- Complies with FDA regulations and other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments.
- Recruits, develops, manages, and motivates a high-performing team of sales professionals.
- Presents and educates a diverse audience, including C-suite executives, physicians, and service line administrators, on health economics, targeted patient populations, and efficiency improvement opportunities.
- Develops health care economic and value messaging education programs for internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintains expertise on the potential impact of key health policy and macroeconomic changes, including value-based purchasing, population health, and outcomes-related initiatives.
- Participates in cross-departmental meetings and conference calls to provide input and guidance regarding economic evidence, quality of life/patient-reported outcomes, value messaging, etc.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field or equivalent with typically 10+ years of progressively more responsible medical device or related sales experience.
- Minimum of three years of demonstrated experience at an executive leadership/managerial level, with an advanced credential such as an MBA in a relevant discipline/concentration preferred.
- Experience in Cardiology and thorough understanding of hospital systems.
- Seasoned judgment acquired through organizational experience and achievements in the medical sales profession.
- Comprehensive ability to analyze and evaluate technologically complex devices.
- Able to work with and direct others effectively.
- Able to prepare and present effectively written and verbal communications.
- Familiarity with medical device industry policies, operations, and procedures.
- Expert verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of frequently used personal computer programs and applications, such as Microsoft Office.
- Significant business travel required.
- Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross division business unit model preferred.
- Strong leadership skills, including the ability to set goals and provide positive and constructive feedback respectfully to build positive relationships and improve business results.
- Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.

- Comprehensive ability to prioritize development projects using customer input.
- Documented record of delivering strategic marketing information which adds value to management’s decision-making process.
- Equipment: Works with cellular phone, personal computer, iPad, and product line technology.
- Operates a motor vehicle for trips to various company sites and outside vendor, field, and customer locations; and to commute to various airports for airline travel.
