Area Vice President - Big Sky Super District
About the Role
The Area Vice President will serve as a strategic business leader for the Big Sky Super District, which includes branches in Idaho and Montana. This position focuses on four primary areas: Sales Growth, Gross Margin enhancement, Market Share Growth, and Employee Development. The role encompasses multiple customer segments—Industrial, Commercial Construction, and Residential Construction—with direct responsibility for profitable growth.
While tied to a specific geography, the Area Vice President will have responsibilities spanning the entire Corporation, participating in regular meetings with Senior Management, functional leaders, and other Area Vice Presidents. You will help cascade and execute strategies, directives, and objectives for business transformation and operational excellence, leveraging best practices across territories.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of action-oriented area strategies to drive profitable growth, addressing market requirements, key customers, competitive threats, and new technologies.
- Build organizational capability across area sales teams, partnering with enterprise resources to deliver organic growth and ensure sales tools are fully utilized.
- Analyze team effectiveness and recommend changes to sales force structure, assignments, and activities to maximize profitable volume and achieve a best cost-to-sales ratio.
- Develop and lead strategic sales plans to grow value-added services and solutions for customers.
- Establish area best practices for new market penetration, differentiating Crescent in the industry based on market trends and customer needs.
- Analyze and recommend annual sales expense budgets based on current and future needs.
- Collaborate across all Crescent sales organizations to facilitate mutual growth in product, service, and strategic initiatives.
- Support the development and execution of an operational excellence plan to standardize and centralize key functions, ensuring employee understanding and adoption.
- Increase sales through digital tools, promotions, and industry-specific involvement.
- Control expenses within budget and manage team performance through S.M.A.R.T. goal setting and frequent feedback.
- Lead the development and execution of individual development plans for all employees, emphasizing engagement, retention, and growth.
- Build a talent bench and develop successors for key positions within the assigned geography.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial) or Business Administration with a marketing emphasis; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Sales/Marketing.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in field sales management, managing direct sales teams.
- Experience in various sales and marketing roles with increasing responsibilities.
- Product line marketing and/or operational experience is a plus.
- Valid Driver’s License required.
- Proven track record of leading individuals and teams, setting clear expectations, and driving results.
- Demonstrated ability to drive transformational change and influence employees to embrace it through clear communication and vision.
- Ability to conduct difficult conversations on performance, accountability, and interpersonal behaviors with respect and effectiveness.
- Ability to cascade Company strategies, objectives, and priorities accurately and clearly.
- Outstanding oral, written, and presentation communication skills.
- Contemporary understanding of electrical industrial/construction/residential markets and strategies to maximize sales.
- Thorough knowledge of electrical products, solutions, services, and local codes.
- Ability to influence direct reports, indirect reports, customers, and external business partners.
- Proven ability to collaborate across functions and geographies to drive best-in-class results.
