About the role
The Area Supervisor plays a crucial role within the Store Leadership team, overseeing a specific area of the store and managing the general operations and supervision of the store when acting as the Manager on Duty. Key responsibilities include maintaining a safe and secure environment, providing excellent customer service, managing merchandise, and ensuring efficient front-end operations.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and secure shopping environment by immediately correcting or reporting any unsafe conditions or practices to Store Leadership.
- Ensure proper merchandise presentation and maintain a clean work area at all times.
- Execute and supervise Company operational processes as needed.
- Manage customer safety, accident prevention, and emergency procedures.
- Test fire alarm systems as scheduled and respond to after-hours alarms when requested.
- Treat all customers, associates, and other leaders with respect, demonstrating courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism.
- Represent and support the Company brand at all times, maintaining a professional appearance and ensuring all areas of the store are clean and merchandised to standard.
- Process all merchandise with a sense of urgency, handle non-merchandise inbound deliveries, and ensure back-stock is secured and processed to Company policy.
- Ensure compliance with monthly presentation guidelines in assigned area, execute floor moves and signing, and re-wrap as needed.
- Manage loss prevention efforts, maintaining a high level of customer service presence, engaging associates, and heightened loss prevention awareness.
- Execute Company Best Practices and maximize productivity by minimizing steps and touches while working.
- Train and coach associates on cash registers, shortage control policies, and other Front End procedures.
- Control Retail Associates' break schedule, ensure proper supplies and recovery for the Front End area, expedite go backs, and ensure salability of merchandise.
- Maintain the maintenance and cleanliness of fitting rooms, audit garment tags, and ensure go-back compliance.
- Perform administrative duties as assigned by the Store Manager, including conducting cash pulls and bank deposits, controlling Front End operations, and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
Qualifications and Special Skills Required
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with point-of-sale equipment and applications.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PC as required.
- Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the Store.
- Ability to regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Ability to occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 lbs.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
