About the role
The Area Supervisor plays a crucial role within the Store Leadership team, overseeing a specific area of the store and managing general operations and supervision during the Manager on Duty shift. Key responsibilities include ensuring a safe and secure shopping environment, customer service, merchandise management, loss prevention, and front-end operations.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and secure shopping environment by understanding and practicing safety protocols, immediately correcting or reporting unsafe conditions, and performing regular security checks.
- Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect, demonstrating courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism.
- Manage the store’s merchandise presentation, ensuring cleanliness and organization, and handling daily trash removal.
- Ensure proper recovery, sizing, and markdowns are completed to company standards, and assist with receiving and processing merchandise.
- Execute and supervise company operational processes as needed, including handling public view monitor inspections and conducting Code 50 package inspections.
- Support loss prevention efforts by maintaining a high level of customer service presence, engaging associates, and adhering to the Loss Prevention Awareness Program.
- Operate efficiently at the front end, managing the line to minimize wait times, training associates on cash register procedures, and ensuring salable merchandise placement.
- Maintain fitting rooms and ensure compliance with company policies regarding garment tags and go-backs.
- Perform administrative duties as assigned by the store manager, including cash pull and bank deposit management, and payroll administration.
Qualifications and Special Skills Required
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with point-of-sale equipment and applications.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to use all store equipment, including point-of-sale terminals, registers, and PCs.
- Regularly stand, walk, and move around the store.
- Spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the store.
- Occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 lbs.
- Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
