About the role

The Area Supervisor plays a crucial role within the Store Leadership team, overseeing a specific area of the store and managing general operations and staff supervision. This position is vital for maintaining a safe, secure, and customer-friendly environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe and secure shopping environment by immediately correcting or reporting any unsafe conditions or practices to Store Leadership.
  • Ensure proper merchandise presentation and maintain a clean work area at all times.
  • Execute and supervise Company operational processes as needed.
  • Manage customer safety, accident prevention, and emergency procedures.
  • Test fire alarm systems as scheduled and respond to after-hours alarms when requested.
  • Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect, demonstrating courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism.
  • Represent and support the Company brand at all times, maintaining a professional appearance and ensuring all associates adhere to the Company Dress Code.
  • Ensure all areas of the store are clean, well-maintained, and merchandised to standard, and assist with daily trash removal.
  • Oversee general merchandising, including recovery, sizing, and markdowns, and process all merchandise with a sense of urgency.
  • Execute Company Best Practices and maximize productivity by minimizing steps and extra touches when working.
  • Train and coach associates on cash registers, shortage control policies, and other Front End procedures.
  • Manage the front-end area, ensuring associates execute to Company standards, and maintain pace, energy, and "presence" at the Front End to expedite customer wait time.
  • Supervise fitting rooms, ensuring all garments are audited and accounted for to Company policy, and enforce go-back compliance.
  • Perform administrative duties as assigned by the Store Manager, such as conducting cash pulls and bank deposits, managing Front End control, and handling payroll administration.

Qualifications and Special Skills Required

  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with point-of-sale equipment and applications.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PC as required.
  • Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the Store.
  • Ability to regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
  • Ability to occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 lbs.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
