About the role

Operations roles at Amazon put you at the center of how things move from a click to a doorstep. You'll help design, improve, and run systems that connect people, products, and places, at scale. As an Area Manager, you will lead a team of hourly employees in a warehouse environment, focusing on motivating, mentoring, and managing your team to meet goals. This is a full-time, early career position located within one of Amazon’s fulfillment centers, sort centers, delivery stations, or other operations buildings. The role is on-site and involves working closely with teams to solve real-world challenges with visible, immediate impact.

Eligible candidates must have work authorization without employer intervention. Relocation benefits are offered at time of offer to eligible candidates.

Responsibilities

  • Support, mentor, and motivate 50-100 direct report Amazon Associates.
  • Work independently in an autonomous environment.
  • Stand and walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours.
  • Work shift patterns that include nights, weekends, and/or holidays based on business needs (most shifts follow a fixed 4-day work week with 3 days off).
  • Oversee truck deliveries, handle and sort packages using pallet jacks, operate PIT equipment (at applicable facilities), and step in as needed.
  • Work in an environment where the noise level varies.
  • Lift up to 49 pounds and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach.
  • Climb and descend stairs (when applicable).

A day in the life:

  • Start of Shift: Review handoff from the outgoing manager, lead a team huddle to align on goals, safety priorities, and key focus areas, and ensure your team is ready for operations.
  • Middle of Shift: Walk the floor regularly to stay connected to your team, drive results across safety, quality, and productivity, adjust staffing and resources as needed, coach team members, and keep leadership informed.
  • End of Shift: Conduct a final walkthrough, review shift performance data, hand off priorities to the incoming manager, and complete administrative tasks.

Requirements

  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a bachelor’s or master’s degree (all degree requirements must be met before your first day).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's program for Supply Chain, Business/Management, Engineering, or another related field.

Pay

  • USA, AL, Birmingham: $65,200.00 - $75,000.00 USD annually
  • USA, AL, Tanner: $65,200.00 - $75,000.00 USD annually
  • USA, FL, Deltona: $65,200.00 - $75,000.00 USD annually
  • USA, FL, Jacksonville: $65,200.00 - $75,000.00 USD annually
  • USA, FL, Jupiter: $65,200.00 - $75,000.00 USD annually
  • USA, FL, Miami: $65,200.00 - $75,000.00 USD annually
  • USA, FL, Milton: $65,200.00 - $75,000.00 USD annually
  • USA, FL, Naples: $65,200.00 - $75,000.00 USD annually
  • USA, FL, Port St. Lucie: $65,200.00 - $75,000.00 USD annually
  • USA, FL, Temple Terrace: $65,200.00 - $75,000.00 USD annually

Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
