Area Manager

Operating through eight regions under banner names including Rexel, Rexel Automation, Gexpro, Mayer, Talley, and Platt Electric Supply, Rexel USA serves customers via an online store and a network of over 460 warehouse storefront locations nationwide.

About the role

The Area Manager is responsible for developing and coaching their team and ensuring the profitable and safe operation of area branch locations. This role oversees all aspects of branch operations, including planning and implementing customer sales growth, supplier engagement, and operational initiatives to achieve profitable business growth.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage personnel, including recruiting, hiring, training, performance reviews, coaching, and addressing employee issues
• Oversee business performance of area branches by monitoring monthly financial data and key operational metrics such as inventory levels and gross margin percentage
• Establish and maintain relationships with key customers
• Ensure productivity, work quality, and staff morale
• Evaluate and recommend improvements to policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and productivity
• Build marketing plans and supplier engagement programs
• Lead external digital strategy for customer engagement and eSales
• Ensure outside sales effectiveness through active coaching and performance management
• Research market trends and utilize digital tools for business analysis

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in sales, marketing, operations, electrical distribution, or a similar B2B industry
• 5+ years of leadership experience
• Valid Driver’s License
• High School diploma or GED (required)
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent (preferred), particularly in Business Administration, Sales, or Marketing

• Ability to manage P&Ls and develop and implement sales strategies
• Proficiency in business analysis using digital tools
• Sales and service-oriented, self-motivated, and dependable with strong leadership and customer service skills
• Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills
• Strong negotiation and team development abilities
• Experience with Microsoft Office
