About the role
As an Area Maintenance Manager at Soho House, you are responsible for the local properties' infrastructure and public spaces, ensuring all aspects meet local, regional, and national compliance requirements. You will maintain the brand's integrity by adhering to company standards for quality, cleanliness, member/guest satisfaction, safety, and security.
A successful Area Maintenance Manager will have a solid understanding of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, and other crafts, along with expertise in maintenance processes and health and safety regulations. The role also involves administrative tasks such as reporting, budgeting, training, and managing maintenance technicians.
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections to ensure safety standards and compliance with local, regional, and national regulations.
- Serve as a strategic business partner and resource for the General Manager, Housekeeping Manager, and Front Office Manager to maintain rooms, lobby, amenities, and F&B spaces.
- Organize, plan, and oversee renovations with the design and development team, and project manage repairs to minimize disruption to members and guests.
- Lead cost reduction initiatives to conserve energy and operating costs while proactively resolving emergency issues.
- Lead and influence a team of Maintenance Technicians and external contractors servicing the property.
- Maintain budgets, expenses, and activity logs.
- Assist with daily tasks such as event setups, carpet and tile repair, painting, exterior projects, routine smoke and carbon monoxide alarm checks, kitchen and restaurant equipment maintenance, and electrical and plumbing repairs.
- Know emergency procedures and partner with the Health & Safety team to conduct walkthroughs and mitigate risks.
- Ensure all storage areas and the maintenance shop are consistently organized and clean.
- Maintain strong communication regarding all projects, issues, timelines, and milestone dates.
- Perform other duties as assigned by a supervisor or manager.
Requirements
- Minimum of 4+ years of relative experience with a proven track record of executing projects on time and within budget while maintaining a clean, safe, and approachable environment.
- Ability to build professional relationships with leaders and proactively identify solutions or alternative options.
- Team-player who can work well independently as well as on a team.
- Flexible schedule with the ability to work mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Strong mechanical and building maintenance experience.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Good work history and stability.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to seize, grasp, turn, and hold objects with hands.
- Capable of working on your feet for at least 8 hours.
- Fast-paced movements required to navigate different parts of the club.
- Ability to move, pull, carry, or lift at least 40 pounds.
- Occasionally kneel, bend, crouch, and climb as required.
