About the role

The State Highway Administration's (SHA) District 3 (Montgomery and Prince George’s County) is currently recruiting for an Area Engineer (Transportation Engineering Manager II) position. This position is open to anyone who meets the minimum and selective qualifications listed below.

Responsibilities

  • Perform as a fully proficient Construction Area Engineer representing the District Engineer and Assistant District Engineer-Construction in the administration and management of the highway construction program and personnel in SHA District 3.
  • Manage and coordinate work assignments for approximately 75-100 Office of Construction and Consultant Engineers and Engineering Technicians.
  • Perform duties beginning with the project planning phase through the design phase, the construction phase, and finally through project closeout.

Qualifications

  • Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience: Eight (8) years of experience in professional engineering, including one (1) year of supervisory or consultant management experience.
  • Selective Qualification: Four (4) years of experience must be in construction contract administration or construction project management.
