Department Summary
The Department of Housing and Residence Life at the University of North Texas serves over 6,400 students in 14 residence halls. About the Role
The Administrative Specialist ensures consistent desk operations to meet the needs of residents and guests at on-campus housing front desks. Responsibilities include supervising student staff, coordinating front desk staffing, collaborating with departmental and campus partners, maintaining customer service standards, and handling recordkeeping and documentation.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate's degree and three years of office administration or business management experience; or equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in Housing and Residence Life or similar experience with a residential population.
Skills
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
- Knowledge of accounting/budgeting procedures.
- Ability to work under pressure, handle multiple tasks, and coordinate the work of others.
- Ability to maintain complex records, organize data, and prepare reports.
- Ability to conceptualize, plan, and organize multiple assignments effectively.
- Ability to handle confidential tasks with judgment, tact, and resourcefulness.

Responsibilities
- Supervision: Maintains scheduling of student staff at front desks; provides coverage during business hours if needed. Responsible for time approval of assigned student staff. Coordinates selection, training, and evaluation of student staff. Provides regular feedback, addresses personnel problems, and coordinates meetings.
- Coordinating residence hall desk operations: Oversees front desk administrative processes and procedures. Communicates regularly with staff. Maintains confidentiality in student and staff matters. Manages inventory of office supplies.
- Delivering customer service: Ensures implementation of customer service standards to provide welcoming residential environments. Stays informed about departmental and university practices, programs, and services.
- Administrative support: Collaborates with residence hall staff, peers, and campus partners to meet resident needs. Participates in departmental projects and committees as assigned.

Pay
$33,312.00
Schedule
Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM; occasional evenings and weekends.
