POSITION SUMMARY

The Bartender at one of Oxford’s luxury or boutique-style hotels is responsible for crafting and serving high-quality cocktails and beverages while delivering exceptional guest experiences in a sophisticated hotel setting. This role requires strong knowledge of mixology, fine spirits, and wine, along with the ability to engage guests with professionalism, warmth, and personalized service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and serve premium cocktails, wine, and other beverages with precision and consistency

  • Follow standardized recipes while incorporating creativity for signature drinks

  • Provide knowledgeable recommendations on cocktails, wine pairings, and spirits based on guest preferences

  • Maintain consistent beverage presentation, portion control, and garnishing standards that reflect the hotel’s upscale environment

  • Input orders into a register at the point of sale and creates a check for each guest, including those served by other beverage servers, to maintain accountability of all beverages served

  • Display knowledge of liquor laws, maintain the attractive presentation and sanitize all areas at least once daily, make suggestions for the reception and drink menus

  • Bus and clean tables after guest use

  • Perform all tasks in compliance with federal, state, local, food safety and sanitation requirements and Oxford Collection of hotels safety standards and security procedures

  • Be knowledgeable about and able to respond to emergency situations

  • Report any maintenance repairs needed immediately to their supervisor or General Manager

  • Greet all guests warmly and provide attentive, knowledgeable service as they enter the lounge, offering thoughtful drink and food recommendations in alignment with Oxford Collection’s elevated service standards

  • Monitor guest behavior to ensure responsible alcohol service and compliance with legal drinking age requirements; check identification for guests appearing under the age of 26

  • Detect and act on customer inebriation, as trained

  • Maintain integrity, confidentiality, and sensitivity when working with both internal and external guests

  • Communicate effectively with all hotel staff to ensure smooth delivery of services

  • Lock up and stores all beverage, food and other equipment items, deposit cash drops and secures bank

  • Complete a daily activity log with pertinent shift information for co-workers and leadership team

  • Coverage of other hotel related duties as assigned

Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred

  • Hospitality / hotel work experience preferred

  • Previous bartending experience preferred

  • Food handler’s license and liquor server permits as required by state law (or ability to obtain)

  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States

  • Reliable transportation to and from work

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evening, weekends and holidays

  • Physical Requirements – Must be able to perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, and repetitive hand and arm movements frequently

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds occasionally and often exert up to 20 pounds of force to push, pull, carry, lift or otherwise move objects

  • Must be able to bend, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, and walk on uneven surfaces on an occasional basis

  • Must be able to walk outside in a variety of weather conditions (rain, wind, snow, heat)

  • Must be able to climb stairs both inside and outside in a variety of weather conditions
