Compensation

$75,000 - 105,000

Responsibilities

  • Cook up and develop projects from schematic design through construction administration
  • Lead project development and coordination efforts appropriate to experience level
  • Produce and refine drawings, BIM models, and presentation materials
  • Prepare permit and construction document sets
  • Coordinate with consultants, engineers, and specialty teams
  • Participate in client meetings and presentations (with increasing leadership opportunities)
  • Conduct code research and support permitting strategies
  • Develop renderings, diagrams, and presentation materials
  • Aid in project planning, scheduling, task management, and project coordination
  • Perform construction administration (RFIs, submittals, site visits, consultant coordination)
  • Contribute to QA/QC and technical consistency across documents
  • Help improve office standards, templates, and workflows
  • Support and mentor junior staff as opportunities arise

Required

  • 6+ years of architectural experience
  • Professional degree in Architecture (M.Arch preferred)
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience with BIM platforms and ability to learn new tools quickly
  • Strong communication and graphic presentation skills
  • Understanding of building codes, detailing, and construction documentation
  • Passion for sustainable design and high-performance
  • Strong organization and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Self-motivated, collaborative, and detail-oriented

PREFERRED

  • Experience in both commercial / institutional projects and residential project types
  • Experience in construction administration
  • Experience coordinating consultants and permit processes
  • Familiarity with high-performance building standards and building science principles
  • Licensure or active pursuit of licensure
  • Experience mentoring junior staff
  • Experience leading project teams and client coordination
  • Experience with Archicad

About the Role

Shape Architecture Studio is a collaborative practice focused on high-performance, contemporary design. We combine design thinking with building science to create architecture that prioritizes health, comfort, durability, and near-zero energy use. Our work is grounded in listening, collaboration, and careful attention to site and context.

We are seeking an Architectural Staff II–III to join our team. This role is intended for a designer with approximately 6–8 years of experience (including commercial work) who is ready to take on greater responsibility in project development, consultant coordination, technical execution, and client communication.

Skills
