Key Responsibilities
- Lead all aspects of architectural projects, including project timelines, budgets, and quality control.
- Ensure that every phase, from schematic design to construction, runs smoothly and meets the firm’s high standards.
- Serve as the day-to-day point of contact for clients, managing expectations, proactively addressing concerns, and ensuring the project is completed to their satisfaction.
- Foster strong, professional relationships with clients, contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders.
- Take a systematic and comprehensive approach to each project, ensuring that all technical, financial, and logistical aspects are integrated.
- Anticipate and respond to field conditions, proactively managing unforeseen challenges.
- Utilize your deep knowledge and passion for restoration and façade repair to oversee the technical and creative aspects of restoration/alteration projects.
- Manage custom construction detailing to preserve historical integrity while incorporating modern functionality.
- Perform technical reviews.
- Work closely with a team of architects, engineers, contractors, and other professionals.
- Collaborate with senior project managers (SPMs) and associate project managers (APMs) to ensure all project milestones are met and that work adheres to the firm’s quality standards.
- Prepare and review construction documents, identify project needs, prepare estimates, and coordinate site inspections.
- Oversee technical report writing and ensure clear, direct communication between all project stakeholders.
- Demonstrate advanced field sketching abilities for site observations.
- Prepare clear and organized technical reports.
- Regularly visit construction sites to ensure work is progressing as planned, conduct scaffold inspections, and perform quality control checks.
- Address any field conditions or issues promptly and efficiently.
- Assist in business development activities by contributing to proposals, presentations, and marketing materials.
- Participate in meetings with potential clients and industry organizations, support efforts to expand the firm’s portfolio of work.
- Manage and mentor APMs, ensuring that they are equipped to support project needs effectively.
- Provide guidance, coaching, and feedback to junior staff to enhance their professional growth.
- Ensure all necessary regulatory filings are completed with NYC DOB, LPC, and other relevant agencies.
- Stay up to date with changes in building codes, standards, and local regulations that affect the project.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in architectural project management, with a strong background in restoration, façade repair, or adaptive reuse projects.
- A professional degree in Architecture or Engineering (Bachelor’s or Master’s).
- Active pursuit of professional licensure (RA, PE, or equivalent) is preferred.
- Must have NYC scaffolding certification and the ability to work on both fixed and suspended scaffolding as well as aerial lifts.
