About the role
This is a 12-month onsite temporary assignment located in San Antonio, TX 78264. Pay rate is $52.52 per hour.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate architectural, civil, and structural installations (foundations, steel erection, etc.) and commissioning activities.
- Provide subject matter expert assistance in review of product and equipment submittals, shop drawings, engineering design drawings and specifications, and contractor-generated RFIs.
- Apply extensive knowledge of safety procedures, safe work practices, and OSHA requirements for civil and structural installations, including Lock-Out, Electrical Safe Work Practices, Control of Hazardous Energy, and arc flash safety.
- Utilize extensive knowledge of prevailing building codes and professional industry standards (IBC, NEC, NESC, NFPA, ASME, AMCA, ARI, AWS, ASHRAE, FM).
- Work with building construction contractors and equipment vendors to coordinate equipment factory testing, delivery, installation, commissioning, and handover to end users.
- Coordinate weekend and plant shutdown work with contractors, plant facilities groups, and manufacturing shops.
- Conduct continuous work progress inspections.
- Support construction administration activities related to schedule coordination, quality confirmations, weekly coordination meetings, and planned utility outages.
- Conduct inspections and observations of civil and structural building systems for compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and applicable codes.
- Oversee work of civil and structural contractors for adherence to project delivery methods, schedule milestone targets, and coordination with other groups.
- Prepare field engineering status reports of work progress and schedule for Project Managers.
- Provide input and feedback to improve project technical specifications and standards.
- Effectively communicate technical matters in written and verbal formats.
- Multi-task, manage time, and prioritize project commitments based on established deadlines and project milestones.
Requirements
- 5–10 years of experience.
- 2+ years in construction management.
- Experience in design criteria development for architectural, civil, and structural systems.
- Automotive experience with engine, transmission, or vehicle facilities or similar industrial manufacturer.
- 5+ years in architectural, civil, and/or structural design field.
- Good organizational, communication, and schedule management skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Project.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
