ARCHITECT – SENIOR DESIGN AND TECHNICAL

About the role

We are seeking a passionate, highly creative candidate with a deep understanding of the differences between design for construction and Design for Manufacturing and Assembly. Experience with volumetric steel modular buildings is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Interact with and coordinate the design of our buildings with our clients, as well as our internal business development, manufacturing, engineering, and procurement teams.
• Makes frequent presentations to our developer clients and acts as the primary design liaison with our clients.
• Oversee the design project management functions of our team.
• Make decisions on materiality and detailing based on thorough knowledge of multi-family residential and commercial technical and code issues.
• Lead and coordinate with teams from Architecture, Engineering, and Building Manufacturing departments to set architectural design standards and oversee the conceptualization and design development phases of our unique developer-centric, design-build volumetric steel building process.
• Be schedule driven while maintaining focus on the overall design objective.
• Communicate design, constructability issues to the architecture, engineering, manufacturing, and site construction teams.
• Show strong interpersonal skills, motivating and influencing the team to meet or exceed goals in a positive manner.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of experience practicing as a licensed architect.
• Knowledge of modular construction a plus.
• . S. Architectural registration required, licensed.
• Strong design abilities focused on space planning and creating efficient structures.
• Thorough knowledge of multi-family residential and commercial technical and code issues and the ability to analyze code requirements.
• Demonstrated abilities to creatively design, lead, and coordinate with teams from Architecture, Engineering, and Building Manufacturing departments.
• Detail oriented and strong documentation skills.
• Comfortable in project management software and with task tracking systems used to communicate with all other team members.

Qualifications

• Subject-matter expert in BIM, OmniClass, Revit, Dynamo and Rhino.
• Experience with 3D Surface Modeling platforms (McNeel Rhinoceros 6+Grasshopper preferred).
• Experience participating in a BIM Execution Planning process and adhering to defined standards for model exchange, design authoring, drawing production, and design review within a common data environment (BIM 360 Design preferred).
• Experience successfully producing BIM that is compliant with data requirements and Level of Development (LOD) expectations for a project.
• Capable of conducting BIM-based coordination, issue tracking, and quality assurance using a model checking platform (Autodesk Navisworks, Solibri Model Checker, and/or BIM 360 Coordinate preferred).
