Architect - Sales Engineer
About the role
Exciting opportunities exist within the Verizon Global Presales Engineering organization. As a Solutions Architect, you will be an integral part of a talented team collaborating with our clients on their Digital Transformation. You play a meaningful role in building long-term business relationships within assigned enterprise accounts. This high-impact role involves working closely with the Sales team and customers to identify and qualify opportunities, and design solutions to address customer business challenges.

This role is aligned to the Associate Director - Sales Engineer in the Central portion of the United States, supporting five client partners with responsibility for 75 NASP assignments. You will drive bookings, revenue, and activations across our WLN and WLS portfolio, including building and owning key customer relationships.
The metrics for this role include WLN Bookings, CS Revenue, Data Gross Add Value (FWA, MBB, IoT, and One Talk Desk phones), as well as success on PWN and NHN opportunities. This Principal Solution Architect will focus on relationship development with IT and business leaders to build Business Outcome-focused solutions leveraging Verizon capabilities, and work closely with GID and SDE organizations to pursue larger deals and RFPs.
Responsibilities
- Build deep, consultative technical relationships with customers, acting as a trusted adviser.
- Identify and qualify business opportunities and develop strategies to resolve technical matters.
- Recommend integration strategies, enterprise architectures, platforms, and application infrastructure required to implement complete solutions using best practices.
- Own the technical relationship with Verizon customers, including managing product and solution briefings, proof-of-concept work, and coordination of additional technical resources.
- Work directly with customers to create solutions and use cases that leverage Verizon product integrations to generate business value.
- Articulate the Verizon Enterprise vision on technologies and solutions, positioning Verizon as a thought leader.
- Lead prioritization of customer solution/technical requirements and champion resolution of solution/product gaps internally.
- Develop individual skill sets and expand product knowledge to maximize value and deliver quality services.
- Travel to client sites, conferences, and other related events as required.
- Drive bookings, revenue, and activations across WLN and WLS portfolios, focusing on relationship development with IT and business leaders.
- Invest in early stages of the sales cycle to build a solutions funnel, emphasizing use cases and business impact on designs to increase customer revenue, decrease costs, improve productivity, and reduce risk.
- Participate in sales stages 0-3, with support for later stages as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
- Four or more years of relevant experience, demonstrated through work experience and/or military experience.
- Four or more years of experience in the tech industry, pre-sales, customer-facing, consulting, or other relevant technical experience.
- Experience architecting and developing software or infrastructure for scalable, distributed systems.
- Experience architecting and developing LAN/WAN or large infrastructure and network solutions for enterprise customers.
- Experience with networking concepts including: software defined networking, routing, VPNs, load balancers, and firewalls.
- Knowledge of data and information security, especially as it relates to business issues.
- Experience in two or more of the following areas: Software Defined Networking (SDN), IT infrastructure and systems security, cloud or network systems management, and business continuity.
- Willingness to travel.
- Valid driver's license.
- Primary domain strength in WLN or WLS, with willingness to ramp up on less dominant areas.
- At a minimum, WLN & WLS technology experience.
Qualifications
- MA/MS degree in engineering or computer science.
- Ability to quickly learn, understand, and work with new emerging technologies, methodologies, and solutions in the cloud/IT technology space.
- Security, architecture, and industry certifications such as AWS Solution Architect, Certificate of Cloud Security Knowledge (CCSK), CompTIA Security+, Cisco Certified Design or Network Associate, ITIL Foundations, or similar.
- Experience implementing or designing two or more of the following: Data and IP Services Managed Operations; Security Services; Call Center Technologies; IT Applications Management.

Pay
The annual salary range for this full-time position is $105,000.00 - $202,000.00, depending on location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. For the Illinois location, the annual salary range is $115,500.00 - $202,000.00. This is a commission-based position with the potential to earn more.
Schedule
Scheduled weekly hours: 40. This is a mobile role, primarily working from customer or field locations, with occasional visits to a Verizon location for in-person training and meetings.
