Architect - Public Safety
About the role
The public safety design team at Wendel is seeking a mid to senior level design professional with 5+ years of experience in public safety design. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced and team-focused environment, enjoys mentoring entry-level architects, and has a proven track record of strong technical design and detailing skills.
Responsibilities
- Execute project development from concept through construction
- Mentor entry-level architects, directing them in design, production, and overall coordination of the design process and technical documents
- Attend project and client meetings with other design professionals for projects under contract
- Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and professional organizations
- Manage client expectations during interviews and proposal creation
- Grow into a senior leadership role with the potential for business development
Requirements
- A 4- or 5-year degree in Architecture or a related field
- 6-14 years of working experience in a design firm with strong design, construction document, and construction administration experience
- 5+ years’ experience in Fire and/or Police stations
- Knowledge of design and construction programs such as Autodesk Revit, Bluebeam, Procore, SketchUp, etc.
Qualifications
- Self-motivated and able to solve problems independently
- Proven record of strong technical design and detailing skills
- Comprehensive understanding of architectural specifications, international building codes, life safety code, and ADA requirements

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in design and construction programs

Pay
$80,000 - $115,000
The salary offered will be determined based on the successful candidates' relevant education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The salary offered will also take into consideration regional adjustment factors.
