About the role
The public safety design team at Wendel is seeking a mid to senior level design professional with 5+ years of experience in public safety design. This position offers the opportunity to work on exciting projects in a collaborative team approach with committed professionals.
Responsibilities
- Execute project development from concept through construction
- Mentor entry-level architects, directing them in design, production, and overall coordination of the design process and technical documents
- Attend project and client meetings with other design professionals for projects under contract
- Grow into a senior leadership role with the potential for business development
- Become the trusted advisor to our established public safety clients and supplement our sales team in the development and securing of new project work
- Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and professional organizations
- Attend interviews, assist in proposal creation, and manage client expectations
Requirements
- Proven record of strong technical design and detailing skills
- Comprehensive understanding of architectural specifications, international building codes, life safety code, and ADA requirements
- Self-motivated and able to solve problems independently, often working remotely
- 4- or 5-year degree in Architecture or a related field
- 6-14 years of working experience in a design firm with strong design, construction document, and construction administration experience
- 5+ years’ experience in Fire and/or Police stations
- Knowledge of design and construction programs like Autodesk Revit, Bluebeam, Procore, SketchUp, etc.
