Architect

About the role

Bank of America is seeking a Lead Architect to drive critical HPS/MBSS 2026 initiatives, including Active/Active Cloud and Gateway Modernization in support of new business. This role focuses on end-to-end architecture, with a strong emphasis on infrastructure (on-premises and AWS cloud), networking security, application security, and data security (in transit and at rest). The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in delivering innovative solutions in payments and financial networks, with expertise in cloud technologies (AWS, Azure) and a commitment to fostering an inclusive, collaborative workplace.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture for HPS/MBSS 2026 initiatives, including Active/Active Cloud and Gateway Modernization.
• Design and implement end-to-end architecture for infrastructure (on-premises and cloud), networking security, application security, and data security.
• Develop and document technical design specifications, test scripts, and sustainable architecture processes.
• Plan, build, and test service and API integration services.
• Maintain a comprehensive library of technical terminology and documentation.
• Simplify complex information using visuals, graphics, and illustrations for diverse audiences.
• Research and incorporate newer trends in payments and financial networks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure solutions.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in the financial services industry.
• 3+ years of experience in integration services programming and architecture.
• 2+ years of proven experience delivering innovative trends in payments or financial networks (specific examples required).
• Knowledge of payments data, object, and service models.
• Familiarity with HSMs (Hardware Security Modules) and security models.
• Experience with network integration involving third-party networks (e.g., ACH, RTP, Card Networks).
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to document processes and architecture clearly.
• Proficiency in developing technical design specifications and test scripts.
• Strong visual communication skills, including the ability to convey complex information through graphics and illustrations.
• Attention to detail and ability to simplify complex concepts for multiple audiences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent working experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with cloud technologies, particularly AWS.
• 4+ years of financial services industry experience (preferred).
• 2+ years of digital payment implementation experience (preferred).
• Experience working in large organizations and understanding their cultural dynamics.
• Familiarity with financial services, payments, and payment processing.
• Ability to write in explanatory and procedural styles for diverse audiences.
