Responsibilities
- Creates initial design concepts and documentation and seeks team review.
- Works with team to advance the design into technical documents.
- Communicates with Project Manager/Project Architect on program, design, budget and schedule for timely and appropriate design development.
- Collaborates and communicates with designers and other team members.
- Develops 3D studies, models, drawings and renderings with some oversight. Provides guidance to junior staff team on these task types.
- Selects method of drawing and documentation suitable for the project and client type.
- Prepares presentations and documents under the guidance of a Project Manager.
- Prepares and participates in developing presentation techniques that communicate the design concept(s) to the internal teams and client.
- Strategizes the content and prepares the framework drawing set during all phases of the project(s) and in coordination with project plan.
- Covers the project schedule and budget.
- Responsible for researching and implementing building code and municipal requirements.
- Obtains data, prepares information required by specifications writer and coordinates preparation of specifications.
- Provides supervision and initial quality-control review of team.
- Enlists technical leads for QAQC full reviews.
- Applies standard RMW best practices, details, and forms.
- Prepares and oversees preparation of design and construction documents.
- Utilizes RMW standard templates, details and forms.
- Researches and validates manufacturers, evaluates and selects materials, finishes, furniture and building systems that align with project goals, including sustainability, accessibility requirements.
- With team support, develops initial concepts to integrate building systems, structure, and technology requirements.
- Coordinates all consultants work during the design, documentation and constructions administration phases with Project Manager/Project Architect oversight.
- Conducts Construction Administration with site observations, RFIs and submittals with Project Manager/Project Architect oversight.
Qualifications
- Professional degree or recognized equivalent
- Experience in design, preparing drawings and project documents and consultant coordination.
- Licensed Architect; additional credentials encouraged.
- 3-7 years of experience including coordinating technical projects, resources and project consultants.
- Commitment to design excellence and document quality.
- Experience in design development and detailing on a wide variety of project types.
- Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Rendering software, Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office Suite
