ARCHAEOLOGY FIELD TECHNICIANS

Broadbent & Associates, Inc. is seeking up to two seasonal archaeological field technicians for surveys in central and southern Nevada. Successful candidates will join a crew for 8-day field sessions between March and April, with the option to continue on other survey and excavation projects throughout 2026.

About the role

• Conduct archaeological surveys in remote, mountainous terrain
• Hike off-trail, take field notes, and identify archaeological artifacts, features, and sites
• Transportation provided from the Reno office to project areas
• Stay in small-town motels during field sessions
• Onboarding includes orientation, physical exam, and drug test (marijuana use prohibited due to federal land projects)

Responsibilities

• Perform fieldwork activities independently and as part of a team
• Take clear and accurate field notes
• Recognize and identify artifacts and features common in the region
• Hike up to 12 miles per day in rugged terrain during 10-hour workdays
• Carry up to 40 lbs. of equipment over distances
• Contribute to a safe work environment by following all safety requirements

Requirements

• A.B.S. in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a closely related field and/or one or more years of experience in archaeological survey and excavation
• Willingness to stay in small-town motels
• Willingness to hike with a day pack, water, and equipment in mountainous terrain

Pay

• Compensation: $22–$28/hour, based on education, regional experience, and professional archaeology experience
• Per diem paid at GSA rates for the region, issued electronically every two weeks
• Overtime paid at time-and-a-half for hours exceeding 40 in a single workweek
• All project-related travel time paid (mobilization, daily motel-to-job-site travel)
