Brockington and Associates is seeking a field archaeologist and project manager based in our Charleston, SC office for archaeological field work throughout the US. Responsibilities
- Prepare and execute detailed research designs
- Conduct fieldwork - including archaeological survey, testing, and data recovery investigations
- Lead projects, including field, lab, and reporting efforts, as Principal Investigator
- Identify prehistoric and historic artifacts and features in the field
- Effectively discuss projects with colleagues, clients, and review agencies
- Prepare and manage budgets and schedules
- Write professional technical reports and publications
- Have an applied knowledge of Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and a working familiarity of other environmental statutes and regulations
- Travel, physical labor, and time spent in outdoor conditions are requirements of this job
- Strong writing skills are preferred
Requirements
- Minimum education: MA/MHP/MS in archaeology, anthropology, history, or historic preservation
- Minimum experience: Two to four years of experience managing archaeological field projects
