Arcadia Winter Cheerleading Assistant Coach

Requirements

• A valid New York State teaching certificate in Physical Education (K–12) or another classroom subject area, a Professional Coaching Certificate, or eligibility for a Temporary Coaching License.
• Valid and acceptable First Aid, CPR, and AED certificates for coaches at the time of appointment.
• Completion of the following coursework prior to appointment:
  • Identification and Reporting of Child Abuse
  • SAVED
  • ASA
  • Concussion
• Willingness to enroll in and complete the Coaching Course Options – NFHS Coach Certification Program within the first two years of coaching.
• Fingerprinting and clearance for employment through the NYS Education Department before employment begins (applicant responsible for the $102.00 fee).

Coaching Selection Criteria

• Years of overall coaching experience
• Years of coaching experience in a specific sport
• Years of coaching experience at various levels (Youth Organizations, Modified, Junior Varsity and/or Varsity)
• Performance in previous coaching positions
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and positively with students and parents
• Demonstrated ability to develop and manage a strong grade 7–12 athletic program
• Demonstrated ability to oversee an in-season and off-season conditioning and strength program
• Demonstrated ability to expand and develop an in-community feeder program
• Demonstrated ability to develop a unified and committed coaching staff
• Demonstrated ability to emphasize academics, sportsmanship, and chemical-free sports participation
• Demonstrated ability to encourage multiple sport participation by team members
