About the role
Putnam High School seeks an Assistant Coach for the winter cheerleading season. The position involves supporting the Head Coach, conducting practices, managing competitions, and supervising student-athletes.
Responsibilities
- Support Head Coach with practice planning, execution, and competitions
- Assist with student-athlete supervision and performances at basketball games and competitions
- Mentor student-athletes, monitor academic progress, and support holistic student growth
- Directly supervise student-athletes during all team activities, travel, and events, ensuring safety and policy adherence
- Auxiliary in uniform inventory, equipment management, and maintaining clear communication with the Head Coach, athletic staff, and parents
- Ensure compliance with all school, district, and athletic association rules and regulations
Requirements
- CT Certification 600: Interscholastic/Intramural Coach or eligibility for certification
- First Aid/CPR Certification
- Demonstrated knowledge of cheerleading fundamentals, stunting safety progressions, and crowd leadership strategies
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to inspire and motivate student-athletes while supporting academic excellence and holistic student development
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background check

Pay
$2,350 for the 2026-2027 School Year (season runs November - March)
