Assistant Winter Cheer Coach

About the role

Join the Ames High School coaching staff as an Assistant Winter Cheer Coach for the 2026‑27 season. You will work within a supportive community that values collaboration, innovation, and mutual respect, and you will have access to modern, well‑equipped facilities.

Work Schedule

During the season, the work schedule will be 2‑3 hours daily Monday‑Friday. Various nights and weekends are also required for meets and games.

Responsibilities

• Assist the head coach in supervising, instructing, and teaching cheerleading skills.
• Attend all practices and coach at the individual, small‑group, and team levels.
• Model sports‑like behavior and maintain appropriate conduct toward players, officials, and spectators.
• Communicate effectively with coaching staff, student‑athletes, parents, and school administration.
• Participate in special events such as banquets, award nights, and pep assemblies.
• Follow and maintain knowledge of all District policies and procedures.
• Abide by strict confidentiality at all times.
• Assist with other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Current Safety Certification – Iowa Coaches Cheer Association.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience coaching cheerleading at the high school level.

Compensation

$2,869 season stipend.
