Arborist Safety Coordinator

About the role

As the Local Office Safety Coordinator (LOSC), you will play a critical role in enhancing the skills, performance, and productivity of trainees and team members in our xxx office.

Responsibilities

• Assist with developing, implementing, and managing the company’s safety program
• Serve as the primary trainer within the office
• Partner with the local manager and arborist representatives to manage and develop the office safety program
• Provide safe on-site training, mentoring, and supervision of crew members of all skill levels
• Ensure that each crew member is trained appropriately for each designated job assignment
• Conduct periodic crew, facility, and pesticide storage audits
• Ensure that new employee orientations are conducted in a meaningful way
• Schedule and conduct daily Tailgate Safety Meetings
• Ensure that all tree care work is performed in accordance with industry and company standards
• Perform ground, tree climbing, and aerial lift duties in support of specific job assignments
• Safely perform all aspects of arboriculture, including:
• Tree identification
• Tree risk assessments
• Pruning
• Removals
• Cabling and bracing
• Root collar excavations
• Properly maintain and operate tools and equipment (hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts)
• Learn, understand, and adhere to all safety rules and company safety policies

Requirements

• At least five (5) years of experience in the tree care industry
• Valid driver's license (Class B CDL preferred)
• Demonstrated ability to conduct group and individual training or prior crew leader experience

Qualifications

• Proven initiative, positive attitude, team-oriented, and self-motivated
• ISA Certified Arborist certification is preferred but not required

Skills

• Knowledge of tree care industry standards and regulations
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Proficiency with various types of arboricultural equipment

$30.00-$40.00 per hour
