About the role
As the Local Office Safety Coordinator (LOSC), you will play a critical role in enhancing the skills, performance, and productivity of trainees and team members in our xxx office.
Responsibilities
- Assist with developing, implementing, and managing the company’s safety program
- Serve as the primary trainer within the office
- Partner with the local manager and arborist representatives to manage and develop the office safety program
- Provide safe on-site training, mentoring, and supervision of crew members of all skill levels
- Ensure that each crew member is trained appropriately for each designated job assignment
- Conduct periodic crew, facility, and pesticide storage audits
- Ensure that new employee orientations are conducted in a meaningful way
- Schedule and conduct daily Tailgate Safety Meetings
- Ensure that all tree care work is performed in accordance with industry and company standards
- Perform ground, tree climbing, and aerial lift duties in support of specific job assignments
- Safely perform all aspects of arboriculture, including:
- Tree identification
- Tree risk assessments
- Pruning
- Removals
- Cabling and bracing
- Root collar excavations
- Properly maintain and operate tools and equipment (hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts)
- Learn, understand, and adhere to all safety rules and company safety policies
Requirements
- At least five (5) years of experience in the tree care industry
- Valid driver's license (Class B CDL preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to conduct group and individual training or prior crew leader experience
Qualifications
- Proven initiative, positive attitude, team-oriented, and self-motivated
- ISA Certified Arborist certification is preferred but not required
Skills
- Knowledge of tree care industry standards and regulations
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency with various types of arboricultural equipment
