Essential Functions
- Reviews tree preservation; and plans for new projects.
- Investigates proposed development sites for tree preservation.
- Attends pre-application and pre-construction meetings with contractors, developers, water and sewer representatives and other concerned parties.
- Performs job site inspections for tree protection fencing, landscaping, and related concerns.
- Reviews residential permits for compliance with the County’s tree ordinance.
- Inspects development sites for final approval of certificate of occupancy for compliance with the County’s tree ordinance.
- Reviews and approves permits for removal, replacement and/or on-site relocation of trees.
- Answers questions from developers, engineers, and the general public on various aspects of the County’s tree ordinance.
- Processes customer inquiries and complaints.
- Affords assistance with training and education of staff, developers, design professionals and the public on the County’s Tree Protection Ordinance.
- Represents the Department and testifies in court cases.
- Inspects and confirms certification on tree conditions conducted by private Arborists.
- Makes recommendations on variance applications to the Zoning Board of Appeals.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Forestry, Horticulture or related field; two years of experience in forestry, horticulture, civil engineering, or a related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Specific License or Certification Required
- Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license;
- Must possess and maintain a valid International Society of Arboriculture Certification.
