About the role
Join our dynamic team of Engineers and Arborists as we work together to improve the green infrastructure of New York City (NYC). This position will work on projects for NYC Parks within the five boroughs of NYC, utilizing technical knowledge and experience to guide the City’s tree preservation and street tree programs. As you grow with Arcadis, you will become involved with other NYC Parks’ programs and other City agencies, focusing on the City’s urban forest and natural systems such as the Staten Island Bluebelt and park restoration projects.
This position requires full-time availability, including overtime as needed, and access to a personal vehicle.
Responsibilities
- Maintain daily records and review the daily reports of other inspection personnel, providing feedback and advice for improvement.
- Utilize the City’s ForMS program for assignments, acting as an ambassador for the City’s urban forest resource during interactions with residents and other City agencies.
- Monitor contractor’s adherence to technical requirements, responsiveness, and effectiveness.
- Use effective oral and written communication skills to represent Arcadis and client agencies in interactions with the client, local agencies, and the community.
- Administer all Health & Safety (H&S) procedures as required by the owner and detailed in the H&S manual.
- Identify invasive plant species.
- Hold and attend field meetings with contractors and owners to discuss progress, schedule, and remaining work.
- Provide administrative support for program operations.
- Read and interpret design plans, specifications, and shop drawing submittals with exceptional attention to detail.
- Resolve disputes and manage challenging situations using strong leadership skills.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry, Forest Biology, Environmental Resources Engineering, or a closely related field.
- ISA Arborist Certification; or NJ LTE (Licensed Tree Expert); or ASCA (American Society of Consulting Arborists).
- Familiarity and experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
- Willingness to work overtime when required.
- Access to a personal vehicle.
Preferred Qualifications
- ISA TRAQ Qualification.
- Capital Contract Supervision Oversight experience.
- Woody Plant and Construction/Restoration Oversight and tree risk assessment experience.
- 1-year practical experience in tree protection, pruning, installation, and establishment or related work (internships count toward this requirement).

Pay
The salary range for this position is $26.45–$39.67 per hour. Actual salaries will vary based on experience, education, budget, internal equity, project, and location.
