About the role
Supervise and coach all staff at designated location. Ensure to only speak the Arapaho language to the children attending the program. Interact with children throughout the day through the Arapaho language.
Responsibilities
- Carry out all classroom activities in accordance with curriculum adapted for the immersion program.
- Guide children in a positive manner.
- Present audio, visual aides and other materials to the children.
- Help idle children find an activity.
- Help children with their activity.
- Encourage children to sit and behave properly.
- Assist if necessary, in serving lunch and snacks to the children.
- If no classroom aid is present, help children wash hands and take care of toilet needs.
- Keep the room orderly, clean, and safe.
- Plan, coordinate, implement, chaperone field trips, outings, and nature walks in conjunction with curriculum activities.
- Be responsible for the safety and physical well-being of the children at all times.
- Keep weekly records for each child's language development on the "Language Development Record Sheet".
- Know the procedures to follow in case of an emergency.
- Complete evaluation forms for each student and keep child's file updated.
- Attend and participate in all in-services, staff meetings, and parent council meetings.
- Offer input to Director, and or Curriculum Materials Developer regarding activities and materials for the classroom.
- Other duties as assigned to maintain and enhance the operation of the department.
