About the role
Lewis Brisbois, a full-service AmLaw 100 firm, is seeking an Accounts Receivable Supervisor with legal experience for its Fort Lauderdale, FL office.
Responsibilities
- Supervise a team of AR Specialists with day-to-day workflow.
- Analyze, develop, and track key performance indicators to ensure team accountability.
- Act as a liaison between the AR team and other internal departments (e.g., billing/eBilling, rates, conflicts, billing attorneys).
- Participate in interviewing, training, and onboarding new hires.
- Manage daily collection workflow for assigned billing attorneys and/or clients.
- Provide constructive and timely annual performance evaluations.
- Process write-offs pertaining to A/R and document detailed reasoning behind such write-offs.
- Escalate clients, payors, or billing attorneys to firm management to minimize financial risks.
- Prepare and monitor collection procedures; pursue outstanding A/R balances.
- Thoroughly document actions taken on collection efforts, updates, and follow-ups.
- Establish payment arrangements or settlements of aged A/R per firm policy.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in a related field (Bachelor’s degree a plus).
- At least five (5) years of collections experience in the legal industry.
- At least three (3) years in a supervisory role (preferred).
- Knowledge of the Federal Fair Debt Collections Practices Act, California Collections Laws, and legal processes.
- Proficiency in data analysis.
- Strong negotiation and relationship management skills.
- Familiarity with Aderant and ARCS is a plus.
