Part-time/seasonal position supervising swimming pool operations, including staff supervision, safety regulation enforcement, chemical balance maintenance, equipment functionality, record-keeping, and financial accountability.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a city swimming pool, ensuring mechanical soundness, proper chemical balance, adequate staffing, facility and grounds maintenance, and prioritization of customer safety.
  • Inspect pumps, valves, and other pool-related equipment for proper operation; report malfunctions for prompt resolution.
  • Prepare and maintain operational records, including revenue reports, daily check sheets, chemical logs, maintenance logs, in-service training reports, employee evaluations, attendance reports, rental agreements, and pass applications.
  • Maintain files of equipment service records and other pool-related reports.
  • Supervise the admission counter or window, collect entry fees, admit pass holders, and ensure the safekeeping of revenue.
  • Conduct and participate in in-service training, emergency drills, and conditioning as required.
  • Provide customer service, respond to inquiries and complaints, and monitor customer activities to advise on safety rules.
  • Correct participant behavior according to policy.
  • Clean facility and grounds; secure the building according to specified procedures.
  • Conduct regular safety checks.
  • Assist in maintaining budget guidelines and supervising subordinate employees.
  • Ensure facilities are free of safety hazards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of this classification.

Swim Lesson Program Duties

  • Oversee Swim Lesson instructors at the designated pool.
  • Train Swim Lesson instructors at the designated pool.
  • Oversee all swim lesson operations at the designated pool.
  • Oversee Rec Swim League coaches at the designated pool.
  • Train Rec Swim League coaches at the designated pool.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of swimming instruction techniques.
  • Knowledge of overall facility operation and City policies/procedures regarding accidents and incidents.
  • Knowledge of Emergency Action Plan and ability to implement it.
  • Skill in operating a swimming facility.
  • Ability to work effectively with all age groups utilizing the facility.
  • Ability to inspect pool equipment for malfunctions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, participants, and the public.
  • Ability to understand written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to collect admission fees and make accurate change.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare reports.
  • Ability to move about the facility 75 to 100% of the workday.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
  • Must possess a State of Nebraska Swimming Pool Operator’s License.
  • Must possess current Lifeguarding, First Aid, and CPR/AED certificates.
  • Must be able to work varied days and hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Pay

$16.50+ per hour
