Lifeguard FALL/WINTER

Part-time/seasonal position monitoring activities at a city swimming pool to ensure patron safety.

Responsibilities

• Monitors swimmers in the water and those near the water to enforce pool rules and ensure patron safety.
• Provides assistance to swimmers as needed, including removing them from the pool and administering first aid and CPR.
• Enforces the pool’s dress code.
• Assists in cleaning the pool and grounds.
• Performs other duties as assigned or as the situation dictates within the scope of this classification.
• Oversees Swim Lesson instructors at their designated pool (if assigned to Swim Lesson Program).
• Trains Swim Lesson instructors at their designated pool (if assigned to Swim Lesson Program).
• Receives training on coaching swim team (no prior experience necessary) and provides coaching for a variety of age and skill groups (if assigned to Rec Swim League Program).

Requirements

• Minimum age of 15 years.
• Must possess lifeguard, first aid, and CPR certifications.
• Ability to monitor a large number of swimmers and detect unruly or dangerous behavior or improper attire.
• Ability to administer first aid and CPR.
• Ability to communicate with co-workers, program participants, and the public.
• Ability to understand written and oral instructions.
• Must be able to work varied days and hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Must provide proof of U.S. citizenship, permanent residence, or authorization to work without sponsorship.
• Employees under the age of 16 must provide a certified Nebraska Department of Labor Employment Certificate for Minors.

Pay

$15.00+ per hour
