About the role
A research technician is needed to oversee aquatic entomology projects, with an emphasis on supporting ongoing field and laboratory projects supervised by Dr. Sally Entrekin.
Responsibilities
- Conduct field sampling in streams, rivers, and wetlands using basic methods to assess water condition and biological communities.
- Process water samples and perform aquatic invertebrate sampling in the laboratory.
- Work under varying environmental conditions, including winter and summer sampling, with long hikes to field sites while carrying heavy equipment.
Requirements
- B.S. in biology, entomology, or a related field; or equivalent years of training and experience.
- Knowledge of aquatic ecology.
- Experience with ecological field work.
- Ability to work in less-than-ideal environmental conditions (e.g., extreme temperatures, long hikes with heavy packs).
Preferred Qualifications
- B.S. in biology, entomology, or a related field.
- Basic experience with aquatic field sampling techniques.
- Ability to identify macroinvertebrates to the genus level.
- Strong interest in aquatic ecology and entomology.
Pay
$20.00 per hour, 32 hours per week. Overtime eligible (non-exempt).
Additional information: The successful candidate will be required to pass a criminal conviction check.
